Dolmen Desktop Terms of Service
Effective date: 30 October 2026
1. Who we are
These terms are an agreement between you and Edward Turk, a sole proprietor in California, United States ("we", "us"), the publisher of Dolmen Desktop. You can contact us at support@dolmendesktop.com or by post at 1549 Treat Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States.
They apply when you visit this website, start a Dolmen Desktop trial, or buy a Dolmen Desktop licence.
2. The software and the End User License Agreement
Dolmen Desktop is proprietary, closed-source desktop software. Your use of the software itself is governed by the Dolmen Desktop End User License Agreement ("EULA"). When you install Dolmen Desktop, you accept the EULA; the app shows it under About Dolmen Desktop.
These terms cover the trial, the purchase, payment, refunds and the licence file. If these terms and the EULA conflict about how you may use the software, the EULA prevails. On the trial, the purchase, payment and refunds, these terms prevail.
3. Alpha software
Dolmen Desktop is in alpha. It runs AI agents that execute commands in real terminals, drive a real browser and read and write files in your workspace. Its security boundaries are experimental and incomplete. Use it only in workspaces you trust.
To the extent the law allows, Dolmen Desktop is provided "as is", without any warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose, and any further warranty terms are those in the EULA. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms, the trial or your licence is limited to the amount you paid for your licence, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost data or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
4. The free trial
4.1 Each installation of Dolmen Desktop may start one free trial of 60 days.
4.2 During the trial only, the app contacts our trial service from time to time to confirm the trial is still active.
4.3 We may end a trial early if we reasonably believe it is being misused, for example to get more than one trial for an installation, or if we must for security or legal reasons. When a trial ends early, the app tells you.
4.4 When the trial ends without a licence, Dolmen Desktop launches no new agents. Your workspace, files, history and undo stay available.
5. Buying a licence
5.1 One-time purchase. A Dolmen Desktop licence is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
5.2 Updates for twelve months. Your licence includes the updates we release during the twelve months after your purchase date ("update window").
5.3 Perpetual fallback. After the update window ends, Dolmen Desktop keeps working on every version released inside your update window. Versions released after your window ends need a renewal purchase. A renewal is a new licence with a later update window.
5.4 Paddle is our reseller and merchant of record. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com ("Paddle"). Paddle is the authorised reseller and merchant of record for all purchases of Dolmen Desktop licences: when you buy, you buy from Paddle, and Paddle processes your payment, collects any applicable tax and issues your receipt. Your purchase is also governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms.
5.5 Price and tax. The price is shown on the Purchase page and at checkout at the time you buy. Paddle calculates any sales tax or VAT that applies to your purchase from your location and shows it at checkout before you pay.
5.6 Licence delivery. After a successful purchase, your licence file is sent to the email address you gave at checkout. You import it into Dolmen Desktop, which verifies it offline. We do not promise a delivery time.
5.7 What a licence is. A licence file is a signed file that lets the app confirm your purchase without contacting us. It contains no email address or other customer data and is not bound to a specific machine. One licence is for one person. You may use it on the computers you personally use.
5.8 Age. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a licence.
6. Refunds
Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy. Paddle handles refund requests and issues refunds: you can request one at paddle.net or through the link in your Paddle receipt, or contact us at support@dolmendesktop.com. Paddle's own refund policy is at paddle.com/legal/refund-policy.
7. Your responsibilities
7.1 Dolmen Desktop works with AI agent tools you install and sign in to yourself, such as Claude Code and Codex. Your use of those tools is governed by your agreements with their providers, and you pay for them separately.
7.2 You are responsible for the commands, files and accounts you let agents act on.
7.3 You must not share your licence file with other people, resell it, transfer it or publish it, unless we agree in writing.
8. This website
The website describes Dolmen Desktop and its terms. Prices, availability and features shown on it may change. A purchase is governed by the terms published at the time you buy.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published at /legal/terms.html with its effective date. Changes do not reduce the update window or fallback rights of a licence already purchased.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, have jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms. If you live outside California, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the place you live, or any right you have to bring proceedings in your local courts.
